Merbau Batten Screens
Our 42mm X 19mm Merbau vertical batten screens are made with 16mm spacings between battens.
Merbau is a class 2 hardwood set to last over 25 years when used externally above ground. It is known to have tannins which can leach from the timber so we recommend to either let the panels weather or to use a product that flashes the tannins out prior to installing.
Construction
- The Panels We Make Are Made From 42mm X 19mm Solid Merbau
- We Have Backing Supports Spaced At Approx. Every 500mm Centres To Ensure That The Panels Don’t Twist. If You Build A Screening Section And Leave Too Wide Distance Between Supports Then You Run The Risk Of Having The Panels Warp.
- When Constructing The Panels We Use 32mm Galvanized Screws In Each Join So The Panel Is Firmly Secure And Is Set To Last 20-25 Years.

We make these panels to order. The lead time will depend on how many panels you are after, the size of the panels and how busy we are at the time. These screens take approx 10 – 14 days to construct.
