Merbau 140 X 19 KD Select grade decking.
Merbau is a very common timber used for outdoor decks. Is it a durable timber that is sourced from south East Asia.
It is a class 2 hardwood.
It has a orange- brown complexion
The biggest problem with Merbau is its bleeding problem, where the sap bleeds from the timber and can run onto concrete floors. The best way to tackle this problem is to let the timber weather for a few months before applying a stain over it.
Merbau is a fairly expensive choice of timber but is high quality.
Minimal shrinkage occurs with this timber so it is structurally sound to use around pools, although you should be careful of it bleeding into the pool.
